The code for this routine is extremely simple and is
identical in 1.1 and both 1.2 versions (5.2 and 4.0.5).
I can't think of any reason why it would behave
differently on 4.0.5H vs. 5.2 or on a Crimson vs. Onyx.

Bad FP values or colinear points could cause an FP
exception, but as far as I can tell, a SEGV would only
be caused by a bad pointer either one of the pfVec3 src
args or the pfPlane* dst arg.

Can you get it to fail in a simple case?

Has anybody had any problems with the function pfMakePtsPlane.
I've been getting segmentation violations (I think) when I
call that function. I remember this problem in the past too,
perhaps on a Beta version. Just wondering if anyone has seen
  any similar behavior.

PS I haven't had any problem with this on Performer 1.2 for
  IRIX 5.2 on an Onyx.
