Hi

I had a posting a few days ago about texture flashing on and
off. I have since investigated this further, and found out
that it isn't texture, but in fact appears to be the ambient
colour for some of the polygons either saturating at peak white
or peak black.

So what happens is, using a program adapted from simple.c, reading
in the Performer village through loadflt, as I approach some building,
at a subjective distance of about a 1/4 mile, the roofs on some of the
houses appear to flash on and off (changing colour). One test I
tried was setting the light colour to be 1.0, 0.0, 0.0, with ambient
for that one light set to be 0.0, 0.0, 0.0. so I should
have a scene rendered in various shades of red. What happens though
is that the roofs of some of the houses flash on and off with non-red
coulours. I disabled texturing, and hardware lighting in the draw callback,
and still this happens.

The demo code for perfly that I have works okay though, but I can't
discover what it is doing that is making the difference (I have
hacked perfly ruthlessly to try and find the problem). Does
anyone have any ideas. I have spent several days looking at this, with
no success. As perfly seems to have some magic element that does not
have this problem, I could just adapt it, but I've spent so long on this I
really would like to know whats going on. Anyone any ideas?

Thanks for your time
