Wow! Talk about "news travels fast".

I put IRIS Performer 1.2 on STOP SHIP this morning. We expect that it
will start shipping again early next week. Obviously the Hotline stays
up-to-date on such matters, even on a five-day shipment window!

The reason is very minor and has to do with inst prerequisites--it has
absolutely nothing to do with the bits that make up the IRIS Performer
libraries. So let's not think of it as a "major bug." The problem is that inst
will complain if you don't have the C++ development subsystem installed
even though you don't need it.

The only way to install on a new IRIX 5.2 system is to set rulesoverride on
in the inst program. Rather than insert a special instruction sheet with each
copy of IRIS Performer 1.2, we decided that it would serve customers better
for us to scrap the existing CD's and press new ones with updated inst rules.

Customers upgrading to 5.2 from previous IRIX releases would not have
any troubles, and neither would those who have C++ dev.

In any rate, it will be shipping again next week and this brief holdup should
not have any significant effect on when customers get the product or
recieve upgrades from either the 1.0 or 1.1 versions of IRIS Performer.

Sorry if the terse comment from the Hotline started any undue concern.
We always think of quality and service, and fixing the CD seems to us on
the development team to be the best solution for our customers.

never "assume" : it makes an "ass" of "u" and "me".
