We're looking into some things, but 5.2 seems to be good.
I'll upgrade the FAQ with the known bugs and repost it. (soon)
Something to keep in mind when you upgrade is that you'll get the new
"IndigoMagic" environment. It's a great interface but some people
have worried that when it might wake up from time to time and make
them drop a frame.
If you see that happening, you can disable IndigoMagic temporarily by
executing "chkconfig desktop off" or creating a file
$HOME/.disableDesktop, then logging out & back in again.

As mtj pointed out, Performer 1.2 does not use OpenGL, so you
won't need anything special.

A fair number of functions have changed names, arguments, etc. from
1.0/1.1 --> 1.2. Each change is listed in the 1.2 release notes, and
there is also a "port1.2" sed script that will go through your code
and make the trivial changes for you, and flag things that will need
to be reworked.
