Is performer worthwhile, if I'm re-calculating tex-coords?

Would it be worthwhile to use Performer for a viewer
where I was re-calculating texture coordinates for each vertex, each frame?

My guess is I'ld want to replace the low-level drawing routines
of performer for these objects. Is this easy to do or is this such
a pain that I am better off sticking with GL for this?.

Any suggestions and opinions are welcome.

Speed is second to these texture calculations, here.
