        A 4RM/4CPU system can come very close to a steady 30Hz but there
are certain views where you will drop to a lower frame rate. This database
was not designed for a fixed frame rate. Also, try to change the
phase to FREE_RUN (use the 'p' key to toggle through phase selections).
This should dramatically reduce stuttering if you are currently
using LOCK phase.

        Additional RM's do not increase texture memory. 4MB is the
limit for RM4's while 16MB is the limit for RM5's. The town database
fits entirely in texture memory so there is no texture paging.

        This is correct. Additional RMs would be most beneficial.
A reasonable and cheaper alternative is to use a smaller VOF. In my experience,
960x680 (/usr/gfx/setmon 960x680_60) looks great and fill requirements
are 1/2 of full res. In fact most vis sim customers think we're crazy when
we run 1280x1024 non-interlaced since they're used to a
much smaller, interlaced format. This should get you very close to
a steady 30Hz.
