This problem sounds a lot like one we were puzzling over. The problem is
due to the fact that the Z-buffering is suffering from numerical round off
problems. The way to "fix" it is by setting your near clipping plane to
something larger than what you are using now (try 5, 10 or 15 and see what
happens). There is no magic number that will make it go away forever.
"The solution is left as an exercise for the reader." So definitely
experiment with many values to see what works for you.
