Hello... I'm in the process of learning how to use Performer, and to
that end have written a loader to read some 3D objects I've had
lying around on a disk. The loader reads the files and constructs
GeoStates based on the materials data, then reads each polygon into
a GeoSet, then ties the appropriate GeoState to it. I then set the
color of each geoset to white, stick all of the geosets in a file
under a single pfGroup, add these to a scene, and things seem to
work fine. However, when I load a .flt file into the same scene
and add it into the scene graph, the objects read by my loader
sometimes turn grey or black. Most often, but not always, this
happens when the object from the .flt file changes LOD (I'm usually
loading in esprit.flt). The object read by the .flt loader, of
course, looks fine... I've looked into the flight loader source,
but don't see any 'smoking guns' pointing to things I might be
stepping on.
I'm probably not initializing something correctly in my ignorance, but
could someone give me any hints as to what to look for? I'm running
Performer 1.0 on a Crimson w/VGXT, under IRIX 4.0.5J. If more info
is needed to give a diagnosis, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Les Elkins
