flickering on RealityEngine

I have a little rendering problem with polygons which are close together
and far away from the eye point. It seems like Performer cannot decide which
polygon is visible. (Even the fog - stuff doesn't work on the RE2)
The strange thing is, that everything works fine on a machine with VGX-graphics.

Did I forget some initializations which for the Reality Engine or are there
problems of synchronisation or HW - problems or ????

I hope anyone can give me a hint in the right direction.

PS: I am running on a Onyx with Irix5.1
        with Performer 1.0 (compiled on Irix4.x)
