        Performer's default transparency mechanism uses msalpha() when
        multisampling is enabled. This is the fastest but will quantize
        the transparency levels.

        The PFTR_HIGH_QUALITY token is not exposed in 1.1
        but it does exist. In 1.1 its value is 2:

        pfTransparency(2); or pfGStateMode(gs, PFSTATE_TRANSPARENCY, 2);
