load.obj in performer 1.2

I am working with the beta version of pf1.2 and am using the LoadObj
function (I have models in wavefront format that I'm trying to read into
a Performer tree structure) -- I have been working with Dee Downs here
(local SGI) and passed along some information to him. I am having some
specific problems. I can get my models to load ok, but when they load
they lose all color, materials, and any textures that might have been
built into it. Also, my system hangs. I am doing a virtual environment
with satellites orbiting the earth. Usually, with multigen flight models,
they "whiz" around happily in orbit. I have not heard anything back from
Dee and one of my fellow students suggested I ask you for your insight into
what might be causing these things to happen. Any info you can pass along
about the LoadObj, please do so. I will certainly appreciate it.
