Personally, I prefer newsgroup, digest, moderated mailing list in that order.

The Usenet 'rules' is that a mailing list has to be going for a while and
has 'enough' members to merit a CFD on creating a newsgroup to replace
it. Since info-performer is still young, I suggest let it grow a little
first before doing anything about a newsgroup.

The initial deluge of mail from the list bothered me at first, but then I
realized that it is a new and people are still getting used to the way it
is administered. Hopefully this will settle down soon.

As a suggestion, Allan Schaffer may want to look at using one of the
mailing list software that make administrating mailing list easier on
him. Some suggestions are LISTSERV, MajorDomo. Both are fairly easy to
setup and pretty much run themself once setup (people can add and remove
themselves from the list, etc.).
