Steady state on the present basis would exclude a lot more people
who dropped it, on the grounds of the unmanaged volume.
A lot more useful stuff would come through on the suggested
managed basis, without choking our mail readers.

In the long term, I'm certainly hoping for a newsgroup,
where my threading tools etc. work. (What I have doesn't
work on a digest, which is another objection to that besides
the delayed turn-around.) In the short term, Allan Schaffer's
current leaning sounds to me like the best fix.

Within the mailing context,
could the list get itself set as the From: heading?
With the true originator as From:, as at present,
the subject line doesn't always tell me this is a Performer
related item, which is more significant in scanning my
incoming mail than the person (usually unknown to me)
who posted the item.
