While I agree that the volume needs to be reduced, how much of the the
traffic was start-up traffic? Should the list go a couple of weeks to
reach steady state?

My other concern is the moderation of the list. Is the moderator going to
answer the mail that does not make it to the main list? After all, if
they didn't feel worth while, they would not have sent it.
