Dear Priyanka,

Hardware Acceleration : offloading certain
functionalities, to hardware, which otherwise in software will consume
plenty
of time. In OPENGL All features such as lighting,
coloring, texturing,Picking, Image Processing and visual effects are
done at the Hardware level. For some of these operations, OPENGL
manipulates Buffers like color buffer, Depth Buffer, stencil buffer and
Accumulation.(Please read the chapter THE FRAMEBUFFER from red book
opengl). Needless to say that all your Graphic Rendering depends on the
Hardware you are using.

since this is OPENGL PERFORMER forum, Few words about opengl Performer

1. Performer is a Fantastic tool for Visual simulation
2. It has High end features which can maximize your throughput.

Please read the chapters "Performance Tuning and Debugging and also Fram
and Load Control to more about Performer characteristics from opengl
Performer programmers guide.
