The latest Performer version has a number of utility functions that will
optimize a poorly balanced scene graph -- have a look at the
pfdOptimizeGraph manpage, functions
pfdSpatializeGraph()
pfdMergeGraph()
pfdStripGraph()
etc
Also see the manpage for the '.gopt' pseudo-loader (man gopt), which you
can use with 'pfconv'.
