but, afaict, a pf[Pipe]Window cannot span several pfPipes as implied by (1).
so, f.ex., on a dual card pci-e system having one x-server with two screens
the "native" layout is
:0.0 -> pfPipe(0) -> pfPipeWindow -> pfChannel(s)
:0.1 -> pfPipe(1) -> pfPipeWindow -> pfChannel(s)
