We recently upgraded to Performer 3.2.1.
Now Performer applications don't run on our powerwall.
We are set up (in demo mode) with a couple consoles
(single pipe with a single channel to drive the monitor),
with a CAVE (2 pipes with 2 channels each), and with
a powerwall (1 pipe driving 3 channels).
Performer applications, including perfly and pfCity,
work just fine on the single channel consoles, but
they do not work on the Powerwall. Usually you get
a display but cannot interact with it, or you get a
blank graphics display.
If you add the "-M0" option to perfly (and pfCity)
then you get the expected display and interaction.
I tried to find out what the -M0 option does - because
I am trying to get non-perfly Performer applications
to also work on the Powerwall. I looked at the new
source for perfly, but cannot figure it out (yet). It
appears that the -M0 command line option does
nothing - ie in cmdline this option falls through
without setting any shared variables or anything.
I figured the problem must be in `generic' where
the run-time systems is interregated.
I made a copy of the new source, and built a
debug version of perfly so I could step through
the source. This code, made from the supplied
new source, does not work on my powerwall even
when I supply a option -M0. I double-checked
and the perfly in /usr/sbin does still work.
So... My Performer apps no longer work on my
powerwall display, and `perfly' compiled from
the supplied source does not either.
What is the problem? And, is there a work-around
to get me past this weekend's Open House.
(Downgrade to Performer 3.2?)
Thanks for any help!
