I am the author of this software.
It is still in use at our site, and with some of our
collaborators at local universities, and I add features to it
when I have time.
The reason it is not available on a FTP site, is that it was written
on company time, and my managers are still trying to figure out
if we can exploit it.
Yes, it does work on MS-Windows, with only one exception. On
UNIX systems (IRIX and Linux) the system will select the "best"
OpenGL 'visual' all by itself - if one does not overide it with a
value in the configuration file. On MS-Windows there is not yet
the code to get and select from the visual attributes (Windows is
not my main development platform), but you can look at the
list of visuals yourself, select a good one, and then specify this
integer in all the configuration files you use.
All other features work. All keyboard and mouse handling, local
and remote control events, socket streams, etc. work exactly the
same. New features like "pick and remove" geometry and the
latest attempt at viewpoint tracking are all there.
I can provide you a copy of the extensive documentation (html
version) in a separate e-mail. It will be in UNIX 'tar' format,
but winzip can handle this OK. Let me know who you are and
what you want the software for and I could also provide a
binary copy of the MS-Windows code (it will take a day or
two to get back to a Windows machine with development
options and build the current version).
By-The-Way: When I mentioned to you last week that
it was possible to modify event handling and pfGUI to
support the GUI windows as a separate, semi-independant
window, I did not mean to imply that you could just
get a copy of my code and make it work for you. My
version of the modifications is tied to the full pfAPC
library and uses complex library structures to hold and
exchange the information. This would make my code
hard to understand. I tried to give the general principles
instead.
