HI
First if your on Creator 3.0 I would recommend that you get the update to
Creator 3.01 in fact I would say you MUST upgrade if you have not done so
yet
Note one of the great features in Creator 3.x is that you can save your
files to ANY previous OpenFlight version going back to v14.2 and you can
set the default version to save you models to etc... ( See the Creator docs
for full details )
So I would recommend that save you models in an OpenFlight Version that
Performer does support correctly
>From Creator 2.61 there were many change and additions made to the
OpenFlight especially to take account of a tighter integration with Vega
prime and taking over some of the duplication that was in the older Vega
product...
I'm currently considering writing a loader for OpenFlight but no sure if I
will yet... I have had a couple of inquires if I would consider getting
involved in such a project, but it would be time consuming so we shall see
Best Regards
Gordon

Subject: [info-performer] FLT loader on Linux
Hi Performers,
Anyone else seeing these problems with the FLT loader on Linux (in my case
RH
9 and Suse 9.0)?
* I upgraded to the new Creator 3.0 and now loading any database using
external references my textures are gone. I also get warnings about missing
texture or material palette indexes even though I enabled the "use external
texture/material palette" option in all external references. This is
preventing me from editing my databases now. This does NOT occur on IRIX.
* I do some node lookup by name. Strangely some names work others can't
found even when it works again fine on the IRIX platform and they are indeed
present in the database. It seems names are getting corrupted somehow in the
loader.
* If I use names with colours in the colour palette, the colours are
corrupted in the run-time. My workaround for now is remove all names but it
is annoying. Yet again this is fine on IRIX.
Generally the FLT loader on Linux seems buggy. Any chance of an open source
version so we could have a go at fixing this stuff ourselves?
Regards, Simon
