Thank you, that does help. I just assumed that the source data could
be paged in in large areas in real time, I guess you are saying that
high end graphics cards are not quite there yet? Or is it a disk
bandwidth or other limitation?

As far as the tools you name, what function do they perform? Is it
something one could roll on one's own? (I guess I have no idea of the
$ involved in those tools).
