We are planning on upgrading our GNU/Linux based cluster from Fedora
Core 1 to Fedora Core 3 with a complete reinstallation of all software.
But I just wondered what will happen to our Performer licenses
(Performer 3.1). As I understand it the licenses are based on the host
id as reported by the lmhostid utility.
What I wanna know is if the license.dat file on a machine will work out
of the box after an installation of Fedora Core 3 on the same machine
(and a reinstallation of Performer). If the license is based solely on
the lmhostid value it boils down to whether I can trust the lmhostid to
stay constant across reinstallations of the OS.
