I've just observed something strange with the performance drop incurred by
enabling Anti-aliasing on NVIDIA cards with Performer apps.

With perfly and the Klingon.flt model I get roughly a 5x increase in frame
time when enabling 4x FSAA on a Geforce fx5900.

However, with the rotorwash example performer program the performance drop
is a much more normal 5-10% when changing from no FSAA to 4x FSAA.

What can be causing this huge difference? I have not seen this kind of
performance drop with such as simple model as klingon.flt (unless using much
lower spec gfx cards).

Both perfly and the rotorwash demo were running with no multiprocessing
enabled (APPCULLDRAW) in 1024x768 resolutions.

System:

Dual XEON 3.06ghz
Geforce fx5900
Performer 3.11
latest 6xxx NVIDIA driver.
