And what versions of Linux are recommended now? The answer used to be Red
Hat 9.

I've used several Dell laptops with good results, running Red Hat and
SuSE. My current one is an Latitude D800 with Red Hat 9.

But I'd REALLY love to run it on my OS X PowerBook- hint, hint.
