Hi,

We have an application that needs to display lots of spheres. I'm trying
to use the Performer sphere loader, pfsphere, without much success.

I finally bagged it, and am writing my own loader which calls the two
utilities called by the sphere loader, spherefront and spherefront2.

Their names and code make it sound like spherefront2 is the latest &
greatest of the two, but the best I can get out of it are some lumpy,
objects with rips and eventually a crash due to running out of memory. I
tried it with different values of hightol and lowtol; maybe some suggested
good values would help.

The older (?) spherefront at least gives me some spherical looking
surfaces, but every now and then crashes with an assertion. Like pfsphere
and spherefront2 it seems to be a bit of a work in progress, with header
comments that don't seem to reflect the code.

To sum up- what's the status of these programs, and what would you
recommend for displaying lots of spherical objects?

Thanks,

-John
