Performer isn't able to calculate the intersection with a billboard object,
since the orientation of the billboard isn't known by the ISECT or APP
process; since billboards rotate to face the viewer their actual orientation
potentially varies per channel with each separate eyepoint.
But Performer does return the intersection test result to the billboard's
bounding volume.
On a related note, I took a quick look through the info-performer archives to
see what folks had said in the past about this issue (search on "billboard
intersect" gets a few direct hits) and saw some reports of folks having
trouble getting the bounding volume intersection back. Are folks still
seeing that problem? We don't have any bug reports filed for it.
