Hi Steve,

Right now all of the 3.1 licenses are just for beta test ("early-access")
purposes, they display the "Powered by OpenGL Performer" banner and also
expire in Feb 2004.

After 3.1 releases, your support contract will entitle you to the CD with
Performer 3.1 and a new license key that gets rid of the "Powered by.."
banner. You'll install it in /var/flexlm/license.dat just like usual for
licensed IRIX products.

A bit more background :
With this release we're simplifying the licensing model for Performer by
making it consistent across all three of our platforms (IRIX, Linux,
Windows); this is a change from the uneven structure where the IRIX dev was
extra-cost but the Linux & Windows dev was "free".

All platforms will now structure basically the way we have done for Linux &
Windows: with a free web download that contains the whole product (eoe, dev,
data, demos) and runs with the banner, and the purchased nodelocked license
gets rid of the banner.

Also we're setting up structures for developers who need OEM distributions of
Performer [so that end-users don't have to install licenses for 3rd-party
apps built atop Performer] or end-users who want site / corporate licenses.
There'll be more information about all this at release time. If folks
reading this are interested in OEM arrangements please contact Thomas Tannert
(ttannert++at++sgi.com)

We're putting the final touches on 3.1 now .. Keep an eye out for the
announcements :-)
