Hi Dan,

after reading your post I also ran glxinfo but I ran two
versions of it on our SGI Onyx-3400 machine (2 IR-4 pipes).
Those two versions were:

(1) /usr/sbin/glxinfo as supplied by SGI with our system
(2) $HOME/bin/glxinfo as compiled by myself from glxinfo.c
[I once downloaded glxinfo.c and the first line of this
     C-code is: /* $Id: glxinfo.c,v 1.10 2000/05/08 14:53:57 brianp Exp $ */
It was written by Brian Paul].

The output of both glxinfo executables was quite different.
I looked in the C-code at it uses glXGetConfig, the very same
function that you mentioned in your posting.

Since YOU use glXGetConfig in your C-code your code is comparable
with the privately compiled glxinfo (2) above.
The glxinfo that you ran on your O2 system is the vendor-supplied
version (I assume), so it is comparable with the /usr/sbin/glxinfo
as mentioned above.

Since your own code (and the glxinfo which I compiled myself)
is the most recently compiled version and uses the most recent
libraries (X, GL,...) my guess is to trust the output of your
own code more than the output of the vendor supplied glxinfo.
But maybe the SGI guys reading this mailing list can comment
more on the output of the vendor supplied glxinfo since they
have its source (I suppose)...

If you cannot find glxinfo.c on the Web I can post it to this
mailing list if you wish.
