The Glasgow School of Art - Digital Design Studio
Research Programmer
Salary 28K pounds to 30K pounds

The Digital Design Studio has a key role within the School in delivering
high profile research in advanced 3D visualisation, haptics, audio
technologies and animation, whilst maintaining a range of dedicated
research programmes with industry. The academic portfolio of the DDS,
supported by an expanding PhD base, includes the delivery of a
multi-disciplinary masters programme, which attracts students worldwide.

As a result of continued growth in its research activity the DDS
currently has the following vacancy.

Research Programmer
Salary 28-30K pounds

This post will have responsibility for developing new research proposals
across a variety of research topics and industrial sectors. You should
have experience of working with research councils and industrial
partners.

In addition, the role will involve developing technical demonstrators
that focus on advanced visualisation, real time interaction and virtual
environments across a range of industrial sectors and disciplines.

Working on novel interfaces involving haptics, 3D sound and gesture
based
interaction, will require experience of C/C++, 3D programming with
Performer, Open GL, or Direct 3D and experience of programming tracking
devices in a VR environment.

It is anticipated that you will possess a postgraduate qualification,
preferably a PhD. To fulfil this role you will be a team player with
strong managerial, organisational and interpersonal skills, complemented
by a sound research and academic profile.
