As far as I know, this was a problem with FlexLM (which has now finally
been fixed) and SGI was planning on fixing it with the release of
Performer 3.1 this November.
If you look in the list archives, someone posted a workaround several
months ago. I haven't tried it myself, so I don't personally know if it
works or not.
