A "now" vs "soon" answer:
Now: The way to do fragment shaders in the current release (3.0.2) is to
cook them into draw callbacks; either for the channel, for a given node,
or a pfGeoSetCB. Or, to use the integration with OpenGL Shader (which
has a high-level shading language) to do this.
Soon: 3.1 adds direct support for Fragment & Vertex programs. Easy :-)
