Hi all,
Please consider coming to our DIVERSE BOF at SIGGRAPH:
Thursday, July 31, 10am - noon
San Diego Convention Center, Room 24A
We'll be showing off our new beta release of DIVERSE 3- many, many changes
are in store!
DIVERSE is a free, open-source device-independent VE and networked
simulation API. The beta runs on SGI Irix, GNU/Linux, MS Windows and Mac
OS X, supporting Performer*, OpenGL, OpenSceneGraph and VTK graphics
packages, or none at all if you need a distributed asynchronous simulation
that doesn't require graphics output.
DIVERSE provides:
* a common user interface to interactive graphics and/or VE programs.
Using DIVERSE the same program can be run on a CAVE(TM), ImmersaDesk(TM),
HMD, desktop and laptop without modification.
* a common API to VE oriented hardware such as trackers, wands,
joysticks, and motion bases.
* a "remote shared memory" facility that allows data from hardware or
computation to be asynchronously shared between both local and remote
processes
For more information check out our web page- diverse.sourcefore.net. The
web pages for the beta will be up shortly.
See you in San Diego,
-John
*No, we don't support Performer on OS X- at least not until SGI
does- hint, hint.
