Hi,
We are attempting to run a simulation in two modes: interactive and
playback. The main difference is only the method of getting the dynamic
data to the entities and objects involved. We make extensive use of
material properties of faces t simulate lights and other such things.
We use MultiGen Creator to create .flt files and then comvert to .pfb
using pfconv. We've never had a problem with this on IRIx (as our
simulation used to entirely run on IRIX). Unfortunately, in playback
mode on Linux, we are seeing inconsistencies with the drawing of the
material properties. For example, one of the materials is used to
simulate a light, and has emmissive properties as well as about a 40%
transparency. We use other materials to simulate shininess as well.
These materials are drawn with only partial material properties when
viewed at certain angles. In many cases, the polygons appear completely
dark, and you can't even make out that they're entirely there
sometimes. This appears to only be a problem on Linux, and only with
polygons using material properties without textures, and only at certain
viewing angles. Polygons with textures appear to draw properly.
I would appreciate any insight into this problem.
Many thanks,
Adam
