That's only if you want to use TwinView clone mode, which works great
for HMD's or for passive stereo displays. If you want active stereo
(using shutter glasses), you don't need TwinView, and you use
Option "Stereo" "1" (or "2" or "3").

The Option "Stereo" section in Appendix D of the NVIDIA driver docs
explains it all.
