[info-performer] pfMaterial questions

I'm pfdLoadFile'ing some .obj and .pfb files.
After the files are loaded, I would like to - on the fly - change the
pfMaterials on the pfGeodes to pfMaterials of my own choice.

I've tried to use the code in
/usr/share/Performer/src/lib/libpfdb/libpfobj/pfobj.c as a template, but the
material change is just not happening.

Does anybody have any suggestions for how to deal with this?
