you might want to look back in the archives, i believe someone answered
the question about GLUT a week or two back.

Try running on a single-processor kernel. If you installed on a
multiprocessor machine it will install a multiprocessor kernel. Even if
you run perfly -m0, you're going to have problems with the latest NVidia
driver and multiprocessor kernels. I filed a bug against NVidia, who
knows when they'll fix it.
If you run a single-processor kernel (probably called something like
linux-2.4.18-up when booting up through grub or lilo), then perfly -m0 -m2
and -m6 should work fine. Though, -m4 seems to fail. Looks like the draw
process dies or something.
