[info-performer] __dso_handle error

Working on RedHat 8.0 with gcc 3.2-7, my Performer app using dsos gets
this error at runtime:

PF Fatal: Unable to open interface OPT.I386/myprogram.so - dlerror =
OPT.I386/myprogram.so: undefined symbol: __dso_handle

Looking on the net it seems to be a gcc binutils problem but should have
been resolved (from what I understand) by now. Has anyone else managed
to fix this? Several people have mentioned the problem but no answers on
fixing it yet ...
