Thanks for all the help. My problem turned out to be an apparent
incompatibility between different implementations of semaphores.
I am over it now.

Subject: Re: [info-performer] Performer 3.0 and pthreads
Hey,
I would like to share my experience on this.
First I use ACE extensively with Performer and never seen any of these
problems. I don't use TAO
so I don't know if it is related to it or not.
I've sucessfully compiled ACE on IRIX, Windows and Linux and succesfully
linked applications with it
and Performer.
These applications run on all platforms and on systems that were not
configured by me. For instance
the same application ran fine on SGI's RealityCenter in Reading, UK.
On Linux, I use a RedHat 7.3 system with g++ 3.2.1 compiled by me. I
never had any problems with template
instantiation. Everything compiles out of the box.
I don't know if this helps but I can send you my .so for Linux and the
includes.
