i recommend filing a bug against the DRI folks (dri.sourceforge.net)
for this. For people that have a Radeon or FireGL, they can grab
linux drivers from ATI's website. For older cards like the rage 128,
you have to rely on the open source drivers (which appearantly have a
major bug in them). you also may want to join the dri-devel mailing list
and ask them about it. they might know off-hand what the problem is and
how to fix it.
