Hi Priya,

There is no such things as rpms for Irix, so this rpm should have been
built for a RedHat system. Did you use a command like: rpm -Uvh *.rpm or
a RedHat utility?
Anyway, what I do now on a Red Hat 8.0 is rebuilding the source as there
is no rpms available for gcc3.x, as far as I know.

First download this package:

ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/inventor/download/inventor-2.1.5-9.src.tar.gz

Then decompress it:

tar -xzvf inventor-2.1.5-9.src.tar.gz

Then, in the inventor directory, with root privileges:

make

make install

You could encounter a compilation problem for the sceneViewer, there is
no need to fix it if you just want to use OpenInventor libs.
