Yes. you are right in that you should be able to create a passive stereo
output on any twin view compatible graphics card. You just create
a pfChannel to show to each view window. I had forgotten that option
in my discussion. I know it was done a few years ago using
the Matrox twin view board (which was very slow (then) in 3D).
It should work well for any dual output GForce3 or GForce4.

I have not tried to 'fake' any system parameters like you suggest.
Also, I have a GForce3 twin view, but no GF4. The high end
PC cards we have here are Wildcats, and their driver does support
quad buffered modes directly (in Linux and MS-Windows)

BTW. We rairly use passive stereo here. HMD displays have
a very small field-of-view, and multiple projectors are
expensive and hard to keep in alignment. Your experience
may vary - especially with the new digital projectors which
should be more stable.
