Hello CAVEers & PFers,

This past weekend I uploaded a new version of my open-source VR
library -- FreeVR. It's available at:

        www.freevr.org

It has both an OpenGL and a Performer interface, so hopefully it will
be useful for readers of both persuasions. There are also tutorial
programs for learning how to program FreeVR for both interfaces.

I'm still not considering this worthy of calling version 1.0, the
current version is 0.4f, but it has most of the features necessary
for doing VR on CAVEs and HMDs.

The major improvements over version 0.4e come in the way of bug fixes,
more configuration capabilities, two new input devices, and some other
small features here and there. Two of the major bug fixes were on the
Performer side of the fence, and the other OpenGL. The new input
drivers are a generic shared memory reader, and the ability to read
game controller inputs using the Linux /dev/js<n> interface.

We're already adding features for the next release, but it's not
too late to make suggestions!

And, if you'd like to use it for a course on VR, let me know. I
have some sample programing assignments and sample solutions on
the webpage for my book.
