These new appointments will play a key role in delivering new ways of =

*** Research Developer and PhD Co-ordinator: Salary 32-35K
This post will have responsibility for developing new research proposals

across a variety of research topics and industrial sectors. Candidates =
should have experience of working with research councils and industrial
=
partners.
To fulfil this role you will be a team player with strong managerial, =
organisational and interpersonal skills, complemented by a sound =
research and academic profile.
Candidates must possess a postgraduate qualification, preferably a PhD.
*** Research Programmer: Salary 28-30K
Responsibilities include developing technical demonstrators that focus =
on advanced visualisation, real time interaction and virtual =
environments across a range of industrial sectors and disciplines. =
Working on novel interfaces involving haptics, 3D sound and gesture =
based interaction, will require experience of C/C++, 3D programming with
=
Performer, Open GL or Direct 3D and experience of programming tracking =
devices in a VR environment.
It is anticipated that candidates will possess a postgraduate =
qualification, preferably a PhD.
*** Research Modeller : Salary 25-28K
This post involves the development of 3D models and interface concepts =
aimed at winning new research bids, industrial contracts and penetrating
=
new markets.
You will also be responsible for converting data into suitable display =
formats for VR environments. In addition experience of high performance
=
computing, advanced visualisation, 3D modelling and software would be =
useful. It is anticipated that candidates will possess a postgraduate =
qualification, preferably a PhD.
*** Electronics Engineer: Salary up to 23k
[ Initial 18 month contract ]
The SmartFingers project will prove the concept of a Miniaturised =
Wireless Tracking System utilizing Micromachines (MEMS) Inertial Sensors
=
for the High - Resolution tracking,of the position, rotation and thus, =
the orientation of a user's hand in 3D space.
A degree qualified Electronics Engineer is required to design, develop,
=
construct and test,low power, MEMS packages using Bluetooth wireless =
communication technologies for integration with software toolkits.
*** Programmer: Salary up to 28k
[ Initial 18 month contract ]
Working alongside the Electronics Engineer on SmartFingers, you will be
=
responsible for the development of interface toolkits involving haptics,
=
3D sound and gesture based interaction for wireless communication with =
MEMS devices. Extensive experience in games development and interfacing
=
of input devices or graphics display is particularly relevant.
An emphasis on interaction and experience of handling large datasets =
capable of real-time viewing is essential. Experience in advanced =
visualization, virtual reality applications or virtual environments is =
also relevant.
