This is somewhat off-topic, but I think it may be of interest to many on
this list. Cesar Udias recently released a public beta of Pegamento, his
upcoming 2D image compositing tool for IRIX.

It's a nifty tool and is almost entirely hardware accelerated, even runs
well on a low spec O2. Cesar put this together in his spare time and based
it on the much simpler hardware compositor demo he entered in the
Innovation Zone hobbyist competition at the 2002 developer conference. I
have no idea what the final version will cost, but I would imagine he
won't charge too much.
I'm probably sounding like a salesman... I have no connection to Pagamento
or Cesar, I just thought some of you may be interested in taking a look at
this cool piece of new IRIX software. I think it's pretty neat!
