i think inventor was compiled against gcc-2.91, therefore may be having
some problems with the evil/buggy gcc-2.96 compiler that redhat ships in
the redhat 7.x series.

try downloading the source to inventor and compile and install it. then
for extra measure, compile and install the inventor loader in
/usr/share/Performer/src/lib/libpfdb/libpfiv/
