It looks like OpenInventor is not correctly installed, is the package
sgi-OpenInventor-devel-2.1.5-7 a rpm? If so it must have been compiled
against a gcc 2.9x, because I have not been able to found any rpm
compiled against a gcc 3.x. Since you installed Performer for gcc 3.x,
you also have to compile a version of OpenInventor with gcc3.x.
I also use a Red Hat 8.0, I compiled the following OpenInventor
distribution
ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/inventor/download/inventor-2.1.5-9.src.tar.gz
and the Performer iv loader now works fine.
