I have used Dirk's suggestion to generate movie files, but it will not work
if you have to maintain interactive framerates. I do not believe that there
is a software solution for this. There are, however, several good hardware
digital video recorder devices that will do the job. The one I like the most
is the DGx from RGB Spectrum
(http://www.rgbspectrum.com/Webpages/prodpgs/DGx.html). But even this system
can only capture 720x580 pixel frames at 25Hz. You can then use its FireWire
connection to transfer the files to your Mac and do the QuickTime conversion
there.

few frames before the app locked up. Which leads me to the following

simulation, one that I could, for instance, play back at full resolution on

preferred, if it doesn't mean saving googolbytes of data. What solution have
you tried, with what success?
