Hi John,

I guess I can give a hint about this.

Performer tries to setup fonts for its own usage in OpenGL.
This is done downloading each character of a font as bitmap into a display
list. That means: If you want to download 96 character shapes of a font
you need 96 free display lists with succeeding id numbers (and the memory
to store the characters itself.) It may happen that your graphics H/W
won't to provide this for certain reasons. ;-)

A few months ago I saw something similar in my own application running on
Irix in this case. But the application didn't segfault. The only
consequence were missing texts in performance graphs.

> then the program has a segmentation fault.

May be, the segfault isn't caused by missing display lists.
Increase the notify level to see more details:
% setenv PFNFYLEVEL 7

> The same program works fine if I compile it with the following libraries
> -lpfdu -lpfui -lpfutil -kpf -lGL -lm -lgcc -lstdc++

I don't believe not at all that a missing library could cause this.

May be you could
- restart your X Server,
- reboot your system,
- update your graphics drivers,
- update your graphics H/W
in this order. ;-)

Greetings,
Dirk.

Subject: [info-performer] Mesa error in Linux

Hello All,

I am trying to load some .flt files in the perfly scene viewer in Linux
but I get the following error.

perfly:image.c: 2201: _mesa_unpack_ubyte_color_span; Assertion 'ctx->
Visual->RGBAflag' failed.

What does this error mean? Where and how can I solve this error? Also, the
perfly scene viewer is not loaded with the buttons on the left side. Is
this related to the above error?

Could anyone please help me in resolving this problem?

Thanks,
Priya.

Hi all,

I try to get 3D textures working on GeForce4 graphics under linux.
As my own program doesn't show the 3d textures, I tried the "Volume"
demo from www.dorbie.com. I have the same problem: the slices are
visible
but without the 3dtexture.

I compiled it on Suse 7.3, Performer 2.5.2.

Does anybody know how to get 3d textures working on GeForce4?

Thanks for any help,

Best Regards
Daniela

I am trying to run a fortran application which is looking for the files OPENGL_GL.mod, OPENGL_GLU.mod and OPENGL_GLUT.mod Would anybody know where these files are?

You may want to try a smaller 3D volume than the one used in my demo, or use a single component texture just to see if you can get it working.

glClipPlanes also eat texture units on GeForce hardware, that's probably not a problem but it may be a contributing factor (probably not).

Cheers,Angus.
