You don't say whether your GeForce4 is a Ti or not, I think this is
significant for support of this feature (having a Ti would be a good thing,
an MX a bad thing). You may want to try a smaller 3D volume than the one
used in my demo, or use a single component texture just to see if you can
get it working.
glClipPlanes also eat texture units on GeForce hardware, that's probably not
a problem but it may be a contributing factor (probably not).
