To figure out precisely what's missing, look at your
/var/log/XFree86.0.log file.

my wild guess is that your /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so
file either doesn't exist, or isn't pointing to the NVidia one (looks
something like: libglx.so.1.0.2880). Or you have a libglx.a there. If
there's a libglx.a file, remove it. The NVidia libglx.so should come with
the NVIDIA_GLX rpm/tgz.

Also, I've got XFree86-4.0.3 and NVidia's 2880 driver on one of my systems
here if that info helps at all.
